V27-996 : THE MILLENNIUM YOUTH GAMES
The report of the Director of Community Services gave an overview of the Millennium Youth Games (MYG), a key initiative promoted by Sport England. The Grand Final would take place at Southampton in August 2000, would involve 7,000 competitors over the three days, and had secured national media coverage.
The Council's role would be to facilitate the formation of initial squads and ultimately teams for each of the sports which would represent Waveney at the Suffolk Area MYG. There was no financial outlay for the Council implicit in the scheme, although there would be a considerable time commitment from the Leisure Development Section.
RESOLVED
That the Council's support for the Millennium Youth Games be confirmed.
