V27-993 : SEA WALL COLLAPSE BELOW BAKERS SCORE, CORTON
The report of the Director of Community Services considered options for repair works to part of a sea wall below Bakers Score, Corton which collapsed in late November. It was unlikely that remedial works would qualify for capital grant aid, but there was capacity within revenue budgets. It was proposed to go out to tender and to commence work as soon as possible, as the lack of access to the beach was having a negative effect on amenity in Corton.
RESOLVED
1. That repair works to a collapsed section of sea wall below Bakers Score, Corton, be undertaken during the financial year 2000/2001, by competitive tender, for completion as soon as possible
2. That capital funding pre-works approval be explored as the preferred option, failing which the works be funded by the coastal maintenance revenue budget.
3. That the potential for cliff erosion, an increase in the extent and nature of sea wall damage and public access restrictions be acknowledged.
