V27-983 : LEISURE REVENUE GRANTS 2000/2001

The report of the Director of Community Services set out the Leisure Revenue Grant applications for 2000/2001 and recommended that £66,791 be allocated now and £5,539 be retained to allow for applications made during the financial year to be considered.

The report also set out proposals to revise a number of the stated criteria for assessing Leisure Revenue Grants.

RESOLVED

1. That the following Leisure Revenue Grants be approved for 2000/2001, with the sum of £5,539 remaining unallocated at present:

2. That the criteria for assessment of Leisure Revenue Grants be amended as follow:

(i) To allow grants to individuals to be made for training sports coaches. (ii) To give priority to applicants where an issue of social exclusion is also addressed. (iii) To allow officers to canvass applications from areas or groups with identified need. (iv) To implement a self monitoring process with penalties for non compliance.

(Councillor Goldsmith declared an interest in the grant items for Jill Freud and Company and Southwold Museum, Councillor Langley declared an interest in the grant items for Jill Freud and Company, Suffolk Wildlife Trust and Southwold Pavilion Management Committee, and Councillor Holzer declared an interest in the grant items for Halesworth Playing Field Association and Halesworth and District Museum. All left the room during the debate and decision on these grants).
