V27-959 : REVISION OF PLANNING POLICY GUIDANCE NOTE PPG13 (TRANSPORT)

PUBLIC CONSULTATION

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control set out the main content of the recently published consultation draft of PPG 13 Transport, which provided guidance on the promotion of sustainable transport choices and how to reduce the need to travel, especially by car.

In view of the timescale involved, the Chairman had been asked to approve comments to be sent to the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions. The Director drew the Committee's attention especially to this Council's request for the Government to consider policy in view of the special needs of rural areas.

RESOLVED

That the action of the Director of Planning and Building Control, in consultation with the Chairman, in forwarding comments on the revised draft PPG 13 Transport, to the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions, be confirmed.
