V27-939 : STREET CLEANSING AND REFUSE COLLECTION TENDERS

The report of the Director of Community Services gave details of the tenders received from Waveney Contract Services for the above contracts. Six companies were invited to bid, but only Waveney Contract Services tendered.

The tenders were significantly higher than budget and the main reasons for the increases and subsequent negotiations held to reduce the impact of these increases were set out. (Para. 9)

RESOLVED

1. That additional savings continue to be sought in both the Street Cleansing and Refuse Collection Services through the corporate budget review process.

2. That the reduced contract sums of £510,000 and £711,000 for the Street Cleansing and Refuse Collection Services respectively be accepted and both contracts be awarded to Waveney Contract Services.

3. That the additional cost of £25,000 for the Street Cleansing and Refuse Collection Services for the period 1 January 2000 to 31 March 2000 be approved.
