Economic Development - 11/11/99

V27-895 : REYDON BUSINESS PARK PHASE III

The report of the Chief Executive provided an update on the proposed workshop development at Reydon Business Park. European Regional Development Funding of £136,181 had already been secured through the Lowestoft PESCA programme, and the Council had allocated £102,136. English Partnership's funding had proved unavailable due to budget constraints but the East of England Development Agency had indicated a willingness to take up this commitment of £102,136.

Due to the change in the composition of the funding partners and in view of the tight timescales facing the project it was necessary to approve an exemption under Standing Orders from the normal tendering process.

RECOMMENDED

1. That progress on the 4,500 square feet, four unit workshop development at the Reydon Business Park be welcomed, and that the Council contribute £102,136 from its capital programme as lead partner in the project.

2. That Standing Order 6.2(d) be applied to the letting of the contract to enable it to proceed as a negotiated design and build project, due to the project having to be let by the end of December 1999 under PESCA rules.
