Application for replacement windows to front elevation.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the above small period cottage within the Conservation Area was located between the betting shop and Wards Furnishings. The windows on the ground floor, which were uPVC, were installed without permission approximately six months ago. The windows were of sash design and fitted the original openings. In design terms the windows were of good quality, but there were a number of inconsistencies between the original windows and replacements. The Town Council wished the windows to be replaced with wooden ones.
Using the Council's Interim Window Policy points system the windows scored nine points. The Director therefore recommended refusal and enforcement.
Members, however, were of the view that the windows as existing were a sufficient reproduction of the originals and were in keeping with the streetscene. They were minded to approve the application.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W17393.
