V27-848 : UNAUTHORISED WINDOW/DOOR ALTERATIONS TO BUILDINGS IN
CONSERVATION AREAS
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control reminded members that this report had been deferred at the last meeting of the Committee for site visits to take place. The report concerned unauthorised alterations to buildings in conservation areas which had taken place following the adoption of Article 4(2) Directions which removed certain permitted development rights. Authority was sought to pursue enforcement notices as a result of these alterations where the Replacement Windows in Conservation Areas Interim Policy scores were below the threshold.
Since writing the report, it had been discovered that two of the addresses had made alterations to their windows before adoption of the Article 4(2) Direction, and these were therefore removed from the report. Also, a planning application had been received for one other address, which was the subject of a later item on the Agenda.
RESOLVED
1. That the Chief Executive be authorised to serve planning enforcement notices in respect of the following properties in Conservation Areas, in order to achieve restoration of windows and other features in a more appropriate manner:
26 Station Road, Beccles
34 Lower Olland Street, Bungay
12 Chaucer Street, Bungay
2. That, in the event of non-compliance, the Chief Executive be authorised to take all pursuant action, including prosecution, to achieve compliance with the Notices.
