V27-846 : W17395 - PAKEFIELD CLIFF, LOWESTOFT
Application for placement of Millennium beacon.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined a District Council application for a Millennium beacon brazier consisting of a metal brazier set on top of a square timber post 4.25 metres above ground level. It would be located close to the cliff edge some distance from residential property on Pakefield Cliffs adjacent to Pakefield Street, and would not have an adverse impact on the locality. The brazier would be a permanent fixture and used for future events and as a tourist attraction.
The cliff top was allocated as protected public open space, however it was not considered that the proposed brazier would be contrary to this policy. The Director recommended approval.
RESOLVED
That for the purposes of paragraph 4(5) of the Town and Country Planning General Regulations 1976, deemed planning permission be granted to application W17395.
