Application for erection of detached garage in rear garden.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control considered an application to erect a prefabricated garage in the garden of this property in the Conservation Area. It would have a fibre cement corrugated sheet roof with reinforced concrete wall panels and be accessed via an unmade track which served a number of properties and garages of varying designs.

While acknowledging that the existing garages were not of great architectural merit and did not enhance the Conservation Area, there was little reason to compound the problem further by the introduction of a non-traditional design which neither protected nor enhanced the Conservation Area. The principal of the garage could be supported, but not as proposed. The Director recommended refusal.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W16029/2.
