V27-772 : CYCLING ON SOUTH LOWESTOFT SEAFRONT

The report of the Director of Community Services set out the recommendations of a meeting of the Cycling on South Lowestoft Seafront Working Party which had taken place on 29 September 1999.

The Planning and Transportation Committee also considered this report at its meeting on 26 October 1999, and approved the recommendations.

RESOLVED

1. That the recommendation of the Cycling on South Lowestoft Seafront Working Party, that cycling on Lowestoft Sea Front be not pursued, be approved.

2. That the provision of cycle facilities along London Road South, and Royal Terrace to Kirkley Cliff Road be fully investigated in the ongoing development of the South Lowestoft Transport Strategy.

3. That until such time as the South Lowestoft Relief Road is constructed, staff of the Director of Community Services on sea front duties be instructed to discourage dangerous cycling behaviour.
