V27-700 : ACT LOCALLY FOR EMPLOYMENT CHARTER
The report of the Chief Executive outlined a request from the Local Government Association (LGA) asking its members to consider supporting and signing the "Act Locally for Employment Charter" circulated by the Council of European Muncipalities and Regions (CEMR). The Charter was part of a co-ordinated effort by local government across Europe to be better recognised in the field of improving their local economies. Authorities were asked to consider supporting the Charter and inform the Local Government International Bureau on behalf of the LGA by no later than 22 October 1999. RECOMMENDED
That the Council informs the Local Government International Bureau that it supports the "Act Locally for Employment" Charter.
