V27-70 : PROVISION OF BEACH HUTS AND SITES, LOWESTOFT

The report of the Director of Community Services reviewed the provision of beach huts and sites in Lowestoft, as requested at minute V26-956. It was proposed that 20 weekly beach huts be transferred to seasonal hire, and that the cost of this be offset by an increase in the charges for seasonal beach huts for the 2000 season.

It was also suggested that investigations be made into the potential of letting out beach huts for 10 day hires between 24 December 1999 and 2 January 2000, and that a charge be introduced should sufficient interest be generated.

RESOLVED

1. That with effect from the 2000 season, 20 weekly beach huts be transferred to seasonal hire.

2. That when setting the seasonal beach hut fees and charges for the 2000 season, the increase be 2.5% above the normal increase to compensate for the loss of income for the transfer of 20 weekly beach huts to seasonal beach huts.

3. That a charge of £50 be introduced for 10-day hires between 24 December 1999 and 2 January 2000.
