V27-639 : W16282/1 - BECCLES INSTITUTE BOWLS CLUB, FAIR CLOSE, BECCLES
Application for change of use of portacabin to provide toilet facilities. The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the above bowling green was located just outside the boundary of the Beccles Conservation Area, and was enclosed on three sides by brick walls. The fourth side was bounded by the rear of the public library. There was a clubhouse on the south side and a small wooden shed for storing equipment.
The proposal was to site a small portacabin in the south west corner to provide toilet accommodation for members. Whilst sympathetic to the proposal in principle, the Director felt there were serious doubts as to whether the proposal would be acceptable in its present form and that a portacabin was likely to be visually inappropriate in this town centre location. A small building of similar style to the existing club house located unobtrusively could be considered, but the Director recommended refusal of the above application. RESOLVED
That planning permission be refused to application W16282/1.
