Application for creation of an active display vehicle track.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined an application for a semi-circular vehicle test track with a central vehicle display area. The Town Council had recommended refusal and the Highway Authority felt the proposed site unacceptable as likely to cause a distraction to passing motorists. However, revised drawings were now considered acceptable, and the revised recommendation of the Director was for approval.

The majority of members felt the site as proposed next to the main road and opposite domestic properties was inappropriate. It was felt that given the size of the applicant's site, there were alternative locations to the rear of the garage which would be more appropriate.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W839/11.
