Application for construction of an industrial building.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined an application to build a 42 metre long, 12 metre wide, six metre high metal clad industrial building. The proposal included both industrial and office space, with the building located behind a residential property fronting the A144 Halesworth to Bungay Road. The County Surveyor recommended refusal due to access and manoeuvring and parking of vehicles.

Proposed uses included the production of synthetic bronze, brass, pewter and metallic products, styrene vapour from which, although not harmful, would be likely to result in smell complaints. In Local Plan terms the site was outside that allocated for industrial development, whilst other industrial sites remained available in the District. The Director therefore recommended refusal.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W15588/1.
