Outline application for the construction of a printing works.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the application formed part of a package of relocation proposals for the Clowes Group printing works in Beccles. A concurrent application, W6116/11, for retail redevelopment of Caxton Works, earmarked for a site visit above, was intended to facilitate the relocation exercise. The Town and Parish Councils involved supported the application.

The Director felt that the indicative layout for the new Works was acceptable, providing a logical flow of vehicles through the site and ensuring that the service areas were well screened. The application complied with policy, offered employment safeguards for the 260 existing workers and would be a welcome addition to the developing Business Park. The Director recommended approval.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W13731/12.
