V27-590 : W17294 - KINGS ROAD, BUNGAY

Application for construction of link road between Kings Road and the current development.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined the above application from Suffolk County Council which would form part of the road network for an estate of 152 dwellings, permission for which had been granted several years ago. The proposal would relieve pressure on the existing road system and improve the amenities of local residents, but would also affect the amenities of residents near the new part of Kings Road.

The Director felt that as all appropriate highway standards were met, the proposal was on balance acceptable. He recommended that no objection be made, subject to adequate highway conditions, the possible introduction of a one-way system for buses, and if this was not acceptable the provision of an amended scaled down scheme creating a pedestrian/ cycleway link.

RESOLVED

1. That Suffolk County Council be informed that this Council raises no objection to the grant of planning permission to application W17294, subject to the imposition of adequate highway conditions and the possible introduction of a one-way system for buses serving the school.

2. That, in the event that resolution 1. above is not acceptable, it be suggested that an amended, scaled down scheme be provided to create a pedestrian/cycleway link.
