V27-521 : PLAYING PITCH AND OPEN SPACE ASSESSMENT IN WAVENEY

The report of the Director of Community Services outlined an opportunity to obtain funding from Sport England for 50% of the cost of a playing pitch assessment which would form the basis of a Playing Pitch Strategy and be used to update the Council's Local Plan. The Strategy would also be used by the Leisure Services Division to reinforce the particular needs of different areas for new facilities when seeking funding from external bodies.

The cost of the survey work, using external consultants, was estimated at a maximum of £10K, and it was proposed that the 50% balance be funded jointly from existing Planning and Leisure budgets.

The Planning and Transportation Committee also considered this report at its meeting on 14 September 1999, and approved the recommendation.

RESOLVED

That the Council enter into an agreement with Sport England to fund a Playing Pitch Needs Assessment Survey, to be carried out by an external consultant, with the cost to the Council not to exceed £5K, to be met from existing Planning and Leisure budgets.
