UNAUTHORISED ROLLER SHUTTER OVER SHOPFRONT

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that in May an application to extend the opening hours of the above hot food takeaway/restaurant into the early morning was refused under delegated powers. The applicant had earlier been asked to regularise the steel roller security shutter, and had included the shutter, as a retrospective proposal, in the hours extension application. As this was refused, so too was the shutter.

The shutter was an unsightly feature in the street scene and would be a bad precedent if allowed to remain. The refusal of permission meant that refusal of the shutter must be enforced. Officers would try to negotiate an alternative such as a more attractive grille.

RESOLVED

That the Chief Executive be authorised to take all pursuant action to achieve removal of the metal window shutter at 38 Bridge Road, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.
