V27-40 : CAR PARKING CHARGES REVIEW

The report of the Director of Central Services informed members that a meeting of the Car Parking Charges Review Working Party had been held on 23 March 1999 to consider tariff increases from 1 April 2000. Members decided that the report needed further consideration and to meet again in time to formulate a recommendation for the 2000/01 Budget.

A series of other Car Parking management issues relating to the off-street car parks were also discussed at the meeting and the Working Panel's recommendations were put forward for adoption.

RESOLVED

1. That no action be taken on the request for a discounted car parking rate for the owners of the Beach Huts at Southwold.

2. That no action be taken on restoring the weekly period car park ticket.

3. That the current policy of not allowing overnight parking by motor caravans be continued.

4. That the use of the Saxon Road, Lowestoft car park be kept under review.

5. That the introduction of a time limit on parking at the Christchurch Plain, Lowestoft car park be investigated further.
6. That no action be taken on introducing a lower excess charge for overstaying, but the possibility of allowing automatic payment of excess charges through the pay and display machines be investigated further.

7. That further consideration be given to the policy of car park charging on a Sunday during the Autumn/Winter season.
