Application for single storey living room and porch extensions.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined a proposal for a full width front extension on the above semi-detached dwelling. This stretch of Europa Road was free from any front extensions, including porches, and the Director therefore considered that the introduction of such an extension would set an unacceptable precedent detrimental to the visual character and appearance of the street scene. There was also concern about the design of the extension and its impact on the neighbouring property, and the Director recommended refusal.

Members accepted the principle of an extension on the front of the property, although they felt the current application would be too dominant. They wished to defer consideration pending negotiation of a smaller design.

RESOLVED

That consideration of application W9230/1 be deferred pending negotiation of a smaller scale extension.
