V27-390 : W3165/2 - 19 CORTON ROAD, LOWESTOFT
Application for replacement window.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined an application for a replacement uPVC dormer window to the attic room of the above property located within the North Lowestoft Conservation Area. Policy required any alterations to preserve or enhance the character of the area, and that external materials should be appropriate. Replacement of the dormer window with a uPVC window would therefore be inappropriate and contrary to policy, and a wooden casement window should be used.
The applicant suffered from a balance disorder which meant he had difficulties maintaining the wooden window, but the Director felt these circumstances did not override his recommendation of refusal.
A review of the Council's policy concerning the use of uPVC windows was due to be carried out in the near future, and members were therefore minded to defer the application pending consideration of that policy.
RESOLVED
That consideration of application W3165/2 be deferred pending the Council's review of policy on uPVC windows.
