V27-39 : SHARED USE CYCLE/FOOTPATH, LONG ROAD, LOWESTOFT
The report of the Director of Community Services outlined a proposal to widen the footway on the northern side of Long Road for a length of approximately 30 metres westward from Denton Drive to link with the existing cycle track from Elm Tree Road roundabout, as part of current footway construction works.
The scheme would be funded from the highways capital "package" allocation at an approximate cost of £2,000. Although cyclists would still need to cross Long Road, they would be able to do so in a safe location away from vehicular turning movements. RESOLVED
1. That the footway on the northern side of Long Road, Lowestoft westward from Denton Drive for a length of approximately 30 metres, be approved for shared use by pedestrians and cyclists.
2. That the footway on the southern side of Long Road, Lowestoft from Aldwyck Way to a point approximately 30 metres west of Denton Drive, be approved for shared use by pedestrians and cyclists.
