V27-385 : W13014/7 - BARSHAM HOUSE, THE HILL, BARSHAM
Application for siting of portacabin for business use - renewal of consent W13014/3. The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the above portacabin was placed in the grounds of a residential property five years ago to provide office accommodation for the applicants' decorating business, which employed 16 people from a base in Lowestoft. The applicants said that staff did not visit the site, only occasional trade callers.
The Director felt it was not appropriate to operate this scale of business from a portacabin in a rural area on a permanent basis. He recommended that the temporary permission not be renewed, and that enforcement action be authorised, but delayed to enable the applicants to find a more suitable office base.
RESOLVED
1. That planning permission be refused to application W13014/7.
2. That the Chief Executive be authorised to take all necessary action to ensure the removal of the portacabin from the grounds of Barsham House, The Hill, Barsham, but that such action be delayed for 12 months.
