V27-37 : CYCLING ON SOUTH LOWESTOFT SEA FRONT
The report of the Director of Community Services updated the Committee on the feasibility of permitting cycling along the Esplanade/Upper Esplanade, and concluded that cycling on the seafront could not be considered in isolation but as part of the evolving transport measures associated with the South Lowestoft Relief Road.
The Community Services Committee was to consider the issues relating to recreation and tourism at its meeting on 20 May 1999.
RESOLVED
1. That the strength of public feeling against permitting cycling along any part of the Esplanade/Upper Esplanade be noted.
2. That a Working Party, comprising three members from both the Community Services and Planning and Transportation Committees, be set up to consider responses to the consultations on cycling on South Lowestoft seafront already undertaken and what further action is required.
3. That Councillors Francis, Graham and Jones be appointed to the Working Party, and attendance be authorised as an approved duty.
4. That opportunities be explored to incorporate public art into the scheme. * Affects the Services of more than one Committee
