V27-362 : SKIN CANCER - SUN SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 1999
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services provided details of the Council's planned campaign to raise awareness of skin cancer caused by exposure to the sun, which had been increased and much improved this year.
Specific, higher risk, groups of the population were being targeted by the campaign, which would run across the school holiday period, and would peak in the week commencing 9 August 1999. The campaign was being sponsored by both local and national companies, and would receive a high level of local media coverage.
The Council would be actively promoting the campaign's message at various locations in the district, and a further improvement would be the involvement of the Council's Beach Lifeguard Service on Lowestoft and Southwold Beaches.
RESOLVED
That continued support be given to the skin cancer awareness campaign.
