V27-308 : TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SCHEME - ELM TREE ROAD/

CLIFFORD DRIVE/ASHBURNHAM WAY, LOWESTOFT

The report of the Director of Community Services outlined proposals to construct a mini roundabout at the junction of Elm Tree Road and Ashburnham Way and a right turn lane in Elm Tree Road at its junction with Clifford Drive, as part of the Lowestoft package 1999/2000.

The new roundabout would give each leg of the junction equal priority and avoid excessive queuing in Ashburnham Way. The right turn lane in Elm Tree Road at its junction with Clifford Drive would allow right turners to queue without disrupting traffic heading north on Elm Tree Road. These proposals would also assist buses whilst providing pedestrian refuges.

In order to construct the mini roundabout it would be necessary to bring about 30 square metres of Rosedale Park into the highway, and the Community Services Committee would be considering this report at its meeting on 1 July 1999.

RESOLVED

That a Traffic Management Scheme, including a mini roundabout at the junction of Elm Tree Road and Ashburnham Way, and a right turn lane northbound from Elm Tree Road into Clifford Drive, be approved as part of the Lowestoft Package proposals.
