V27-262 : MILLENNIUM DAWN CONCERT

The report of the Director of Community Services advised that, despite being given a deadline in February 1999 to provide details concerning their proposal to hold a major concert based event on Royal Green, the Millennium Dawn company had still not done so.

The company had given further assurances that the event was still proceeding, however, it was considered essential that final details were received in good time to enable inclusion in the events programme, and to make the necessary arrangements for dealing with the 4,000 people it was estimated would be attending the concert.

Members applauded the ambition of the organisers, but as time was of the essence, and there would be a need to consider alternative arrangements if the concert did not proceed, it was proposed that a final submission date of 1 May 1999 be set.

RECOMMENDED

That the Millennium Dawn company be requested to submit final details of their event, its content and management by 1 May 1999, to the satisfaction of the Chief Executive and Director of Community Services.
