V27-242 : RIVERSIDE ROAD BUSINESS PARK

The report of the Chief Executive provided an update on negotiations with English Partnerships to redevelop the former Barber Richmore site on Riverside Road, which was reported at minute V26-1245.

The seven hectare site would be redeveloped to form the Riverside Business Park to provide landscaped serviced plots for industry. The total costs of the project would be around £3.6 million partly funded by £685,000 of European Objective 5b funding. It was estimated that the site could ultimately provide work for 570 people and 65 construction jobs.

It had been decided that it was not cost effective to include the Council's adjacent one acre land holding in the redevelopment because of the likely high cost of quay restoration associated with the site set against only a modest "gain" in productive space.

RESOLVED

That a further report on the progress of the Riverside Road redevelopment project be presented to a future meeting of the Sub-Committee.
