V27-24 : PRIVATE HIRE VEHICLES - TELEPHONES
The report of the Chief Executive advised that the use of telephones in Private Hire vehicles was forbidden by a condition in the Hackney Carriages and Private Hire Licensing Booklet. It was never intended that this condition should apply to bona fide customers using mobile phones in the vehicles, and a resolution was made to rectify the situation. RESOLVED
That the following wording be added to Paragraph 28 on Page 34 of the Hackney Carriages and Private Hire Licensing Booklet, concerning the use of telephones in private hire vehicles:
"... provided that this restriction shall not apply to bona fide passengers". The meeting was concluded at 5.30pm.
