Application for change of use from play area to domestic garden.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the above site was part of a long, narrow area of grass between rear gardens with no play equipment and a sign prohibiting ball games. Its use and value as a play area was therefore minimal, and it was not one of the recreational areas specifically identified for protection in the Local Plan. Subject to a condition requiring boundary fencing, the Director recommended approval.

However, members were concerned at the loss of a play area and were minded to defer the application for a report into the adequacy of other open space in the area, and also to investigate other possible uses of the land

RESOLVED

That consideration of application W17257 be deferred for a report on the adequacy of other open spaces in the area, and for consideration of other possible uses of the land.
