V27-179 : W109/16 - ROYAL GREEN, LOWESTOFT
Application for adventure golf course.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined a proposal for an adventure golf course in an area approximately 35 x 25 square metres, immediately to the south of the wind breaks and outside seating area beside the East Point Pavilion. The development would retain the low profile character of the green with grass putting greens, water features, shrubberies and link paths. Entrance would be via a pay kiosk in the north east corner.
The Director felt the scheme would create attractive, but low profile visual interest, without compromising the open, garden character of Royal Green, and would provide a not too commercial facility in keeping with the essential qualities of Lowestoft South Beach. He recommended approval subject to no objections being received, and drawings or an on-site mock-up to ensure the pay kiosk would be in the correct proportion and position relative to the Pavilion.
Both the Director and members agreed that any signage to the facility should be unobtrusive, and that the facility should be partly visible to passers-by, with the top part of the proposed six foot fencing not being solid.
RESOLVED
That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W109/16, subject to no sustainable objections of substance emerging before the expiration of the consultation period, and submission of perspective "street profile" drawings of the pay kiosk, and if necessary an on-site mock- up, to ensure proportion and position are satisfactory.
