Application for retention of 1.8 metre high fence.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined a retrospective application to retain a length of fencing alongside Hillside Road West at the rear of the applicant's property. The applicant explained that the purpose of the fence was to prevent the embankment being used as a dumping ground.

The Director felt the fence did not harm the character of the area, particularly if suitable planting was carried out, and recommended approval subject to no sustainable objections being received and landscaping. Members added that they felt the fence should be stained a suitable colour.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W17259, subject to no sustainable objections of substance emerging before the expiration of the consultation period, landscaping of the embankment and appropriate colour staining of the fence.
