V27-159 : W10698/22 - LAND OPPOSITE 229 OULTON ROAD, LOWESTOFT
Application to construct five bungalows.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control concerned an application to develop the above site for residential purposes to provide five bungalows with associated access. In principle there was no objection to the infill of this site, although it was important that the existing hedge at the front was retained.
The site was adjacent to Phase 3 of the Lowestoft Spine Road which had recently been completed, and this part of Oulton Road was now a cul-de-sac. Suffolk County Council Highways had suggested that a footpath be created in front of the site, but to achieve this within the site the hedge would be lost. Discussions with the applicant's agent to resolve this had suggested that the footpath could be achieved without losing the hedge by narrowing the road itself. The Director recommended approval subject to resolving highway concerns and the results of the noise assessment report. Members wished a further condition to be added concerning provision of a footpath without loss of the hedge. RESOLVED
That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W10698/22, subject to resolving highway concerns, results of the noise assessment report and provision of a footpath on Oulton Road without loss of the hedge.
