V27-157 : TREE PRESERVATION ORDER NO. 190B
LAND AT 143 AND 149 STRADBROKE ROAD, LOWESTOFT
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control concerned an application from the owner of 143 Stradbroke Road to remove a beech tree covered in the above Order from the garden of 149 Stradbroke Road on the grounds that it substantially overhung his own garden and was likely to lean further in future.
The Council's Landscape Advisor felt that although the tree had leant northwards to gain light, the lower trunk was upright and there was no sign of the roots lifting or other damage or disease. The tree was also important to the wooded character of the site of 149 Stradbroke Road, which was a backland property, and the Director recommended that no further pruning or removal of the tree be allowed.
RESOLVED
That the removal and any further pruning of Beech tree T17 of Tree Preservation Order No. 190B at 143/149 Stradbroke Road, Lowestoft, be refused.
