V27-1540 : SEA WALL, BAKER'S SCORE, CORTON, LOWESTOFT - SEA WALL REPAIRS
DEEMED CONSENT APPLICATION W17434 AND W17434/1
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control reminded members that deemed planning approval was granted for sea wall repairs and the reconstruction of the cliff revetment and seawall promenade over the collapsed part of sea wall below Bakers Score. Interlocking blocks or gabions, were agreed at the last meeting, but a more viable solution had now arisen as a hybrid of the two previous applications. The proposal was for revised treatment of the sunken sea wall promenade surface by minimal improvements made to create a safe walking surface which would shed water onto the sea. The new gabion revetment would have larger, more stable rock pieces, dispensing with the need for a containing cage. The Director felt that the proposed changes were considered acceptable. RESOLVED
That for the purposes of paragraph 4(5) of the Town and Country Planning General Regulations 1976 deemed planning permission be granted to application W17434/1 for the revised treatment for the sea wall repairs at Bakers Score, Corton.
