V27-1539 : 97 ROTTERDAM ROAD, LOWESTOFT - UNAUTHORISED CHANGE OF USE

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the above end terrace dwelling had been converted into two flats and the building at the rear also used as two self-contained flats, although when visited, the building at the rear was vacant, subject to a Closing Order.

The owner was requested to revert the building back to a single dwelling, as a retrospective application for two flats could not be supported on policy grounds. In December 1999 the owner stated that the building would be used as a four-bedroom house by removing the upstairs kitchen, and he would make an application to use the outbuilding as an annexe, ancillary to the main dwelling. Despite assurances that an application was forthcoming, to date this had not been received.

RESOLVED

That the Chief Executive be authorised to issue an Enforcement Notice and take all pursuant action in relation to the unauthorised change of use of 97 Rotterdam Road, Lowestoft.
