V27-1500 : CAXTON ARMS, RAVENSMERE, BECCLES

APPLICATION FOR A PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT LICENCE

The report of the Chief Executive set out an application for a Public Entertainment Licence for the Caxton Arms, Ravensmere, Beccles, Monday to Saturday 7.00pm - 11.00pm. No objections had been received from the Director of Housing and Environmental Services or Beccles Town Council, but fire safety works on the premises had yet to be completed to the satisfaction of the Fire Service.

The Police did not oppose the application, although given the frequent reports of noise and unruly behaviour outside the Caxton Arms and more frequently the Royal Oak at closing time at weekends, they felt that a probationary period of six months should be granted to allow them to monitor events at the location, as well as restricting the licence to Friday and Saturday nights only.

RESOLVED

That upon the premises achieving the required public safety standard to the satisfaction of the Suffolk Fire Service, a Public Entertainment Licence be issued for the Caxton Arms, Ravensmere, Beccles, on Friday and Saturday nights from 7.00pm to 11.00pm, for a trial period of six months to allow monitoring to take place.
