V27-1493 : LICENSING FEES

The report of the Chief Executive detailed a proposal to recover, as far as possible, the direct costs of the various licensing regimes operated in the Chief Executive's and Housing and Environmental Services Departments.

The present licensing budget provision estimated an income of £37,000 against an expenditure of £130,000, and an increase in fees of approximately 20% was recommended to try and recover the sizeable discrepancy between income and expenditure. Members agreed with the recommendations, subject to the licence fee relating to Public Entertainment (Occasional) for over 3,000 people being increased to £4,000 rather than the recommended £3,000.

RESOLVED

1. That the proposed 20% increase in licensing fees as appended to the minutes be approved.

2. That the Chief Executive be given delegated authority to advertise the proposed increases in fees where required, to come into effect on the first renewal date of each of the licences listed or by 1 April 2000, whichever falls first.

3. That if no objections are received, the Chief Executive be given delegated authority to confirm the fees as advertised.
