V27-1468 : SOUTH LOWESTOFT TOWNSCAPE HERITAGE INITIATIVE GRANT SCHEME

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined a proposal for a Townscape Heritage Initiative grant scheme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to commence in April 2001. The Scheme was designed to restore historic townscape and provide area regeneration, and would also offer an opportunity to complete and consolidate the area improvement work achieved under the South Lowestoft "Image Enhancement Scheme". It was proposed to continue the use of the Council's budgets for the existing scheme to generate matched funds.

RESOLVED

1. That an action plan be submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a Townscape Heritage Initiative grant, as described in the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control.

2. That agreement in principle be given to the continuation of the revenue and capital budgets allocated to the South Lowestoft Image Enhancement to serve as the Council's funding for the proposed Townscape Heritage Initiative Scheme from April 2001 to March 2004.
