V27-145 : APPOINTMENT OF CONSULTANT

The report of the Director of Waveney Contract Services outlined a need to engage a consultant to provide a private sector bench-mark price against which to assess the Department, to assist with the forthcoming tender bids for Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing.

The cost of such consultancy work was likely to be in the region of £7,500 and the costs would be met from the Department's overheads. Although there were a number of consultants who did this work, previous experience and recent discussions with other authorities has indicated that Indecon had their finger very much on the pulse of the market. The Department had used the firm before, successfully, and they had the advantage of some knowledge of operations in Lowestoft.

RESOLVED

That Indecon be appointed, at a price to be agreed, to provide a private sector bench- mark price to Waveney Contract Services in respect of Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing for the reasons set out in the report of the Director of Waveney Contract Services.
