V27-1413 : OFFSHORE 2000 CONFERENCE

The report of the Chief Executive reminded the Sub-Committee that at minute V27-243 members agreed to support a study into the prospects for the local offshore sector locally being commissioned by Norfolk County Council. A major conference entitled Offshore 2000 was held at Great Yarmouth Town Hall on the 15 February 2000 to launch the findings of the study.

A detailed report examining the implications of the studies finding would be presented at a future meeting, but given the importance of the conference and the guest speakers it was felt essential that the Council had a representative at the event. Following discussions with the Chairman of the Sub-Committee it was agreed that Councillor T. Carter should attend given his involvement in the Local Authority Standing Committee on Oil Fabrication.

Councillor Carter gave both a written and verbal report on his attendance.

RECOMMENDED

That the action of the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Chairman, in appointing Councillor T. Carter to attend the Offshore 2000 Conference held on 15 February 2000, be confirmed.
