V27-1379 : W17488 AND W17488/1 - 6 LORNE ROAD, SOUTHWOLD
Application for provision of new vehicular access and hardstanding, and conservation area consent for demolition of part of boundary wall.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the above property and garden ran parallel with Lorne Road, and the garden wall which abutted the footpath was approximately one metre high and constructed in red brick. The application showed the creation of an opening in the wall 2.3 metres wide and a hardstanding constructed. The proposal offered an alternative for the parking of vehicles which was to be welcomed, however it could set a precedent for other similar developments which collectively would undermine the character of the Conservation Area. The Town Council and three neighbours objected, and the Director recommended refusal.
RESOLVED
That planning permission and conservation area consent be refused to applications W17488 and W17488/1 respectively.
