V27-1338 : 24 QUAVES LANE, BUNGAY - UNAUTHORISED BOUNDARY FENCE
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control detailed that a large and obtrusive fence had been erected along the boundary on three sides of the plot at the above property, within the Bungay Conservation Area and subject to Article 4.2 controls. It replaced a former substantial domestic hedge with a grass verge alongside. The fence, extending a total length of around 50 metres, fronted onto the public highway of Quaves Lane and Castle Lane and the footpath connecting Castle Lane with Priory Lane. Constructed of close-boarded panels with concrete posts, mounted on top of a concrete embankment partially laid with grey concrete paving slabs, the overall height of the structure was well in excess of the one metre normal permitted development limit, and much of it was more than two metres high.
It was also a strong possibility that part of the concrete embankment encroached onto the highway, which was being pursued by the County Highways Department.
RESOLVED
1. That the Chief Executive be authorised to issue an Enforcement Notice and to take all pursuant action in relation to the unauthorised fence and embankment at 24 Quaves Lane, Bungay
2. That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to approve a suitable style replacement fence and boundary treatment.
