V27-1337 : W17470 - LAND AT GUN HILL, SOUTHWOLD

Application for erection and retention of a beacon.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control detailed that the above structure had originally been proposed and erected as part of the millennium celebrations and the application was now to retain the beacon as a permanent structure.

Four letters of complaint had been received. The beacon occupied a prominent position at Gun Hill, but also nearby were the ships mast, a lamp and telegraph/electricity poles. The Director considered that the beacon fitted in well with the surroundings and recommended approval.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W17470.
