V27-1285 : CLASS 7 MOT STATION

The report of the Director of Waveney Contract Services set out a proposal to open a Class 7 MOT station at the Depot which would enable the testing of large vans and pick-ups.

The necessary equipment could be purchased for £14,000 and financed through an operational lease for approximately £2,500 per annum. Alterations to the building were estimated at £7,500, which could be met from the Vehicle Maintenance trading account. Based on the expressions of interest known and the Council's own vehicles, income was guaranteed at £10,000 per annum. This would produce a break-even in year one and a surplus in year two.

RESOLVED

That a Class 7 MOT station be created at Rotterdam Road by acquiring the equipment through leasing at £2,500 per annum and carrying out necessary alterations at an approximate cost of £7,500.
