V27-1266 : REHOUSING OF LARGE FAMILIES

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services informed members that occasional requests were made, because of the number of children in the family, to transfer to larger accommodation, not available in the existing stock, or for a home to be extended,

There were three options, extending the existing home, knocking two houses into one, or to encourage the building of a small number of five bedroom houses as part of the annual bidding round to the Housing Corporation.

RESOLVED

That the Director of Housing and Environmental Services, in consultation with the Chairman, be given delegated authority to consider each case for providing adequate accommodation for larger families on its merits to select the most appropriate option.
