V27-125 : NATIONAL LOCAL GOVERNMENT FORUM AGAINST POVERTY
The report of the Director Housing and Environmental Services set out the views of the Council's Anti-Poverty Working Party regarding Waveney's continued membership of the National Forum following recent adverse publicity regarding inappropriate activities of two members of the Forum.
The Anti-Poverty Group felt this did not reflect the overall value of the workings of the Forum. It considered that continued membership had positive benefits in the fields of linking into other Local Authorities' initiatives; a strong footing for lobbying against adverse political changes to the Benefits system; circulation of information; providing a united approach to anti-poverty work; and providing an active and useful support network. RESOLVED
That the decision of the Council's Anti-Poverty Working Party to continue membership of the National Local Government Forum Against Poverty be endorsed.
