V27-1233 : BECCLES COMMON

The report of the Chief Executive was considered as a matter of urgency, under the statutory provision accorded to the Chairman, so that detailed consideration of the Ecologist's report could be taken forward without delay in partnership with Beccles Town Council.

On 1 March 2000 the consultant ecologist, Dr Brennan, presented her report to an invited audience at Beccles Public Hall. The first stage of taking the report forward in a practical way would mean more detailed work with Beccles Town Council before widening discussions to include other parties. It was suggested that this be undertaken by a joint members' Working Party of the two Councils, and that a formal approach be made to Beccles Town Council on these lines.

RESOLVED

1. That Beccles Town Council be approached with a view to joining the Council on a Joint Members' Working Party to consider how best to implement the proposals of Dr Brennan's report on Beccles Common.

2. That in the event of Beccles Town Council agreeing to the Joint Members' Working Party, Councillors Goldsmith, Holzer, Kelly, Thomson and Walmsley be appointed as this Council's representatives, and attendance be authorised as an approved duty.

The meeting was concluded at 8.30pm.
